Unreal Engine Broadcast & AR Plugin

A practical macOS-first workflow for building broadcast AR in Unreal Engine without manually assembling the same Composure layers, capture logic and output path for every project.

The core pipeline has already been used during an approximately seven-hour live sports broadcast. That is one real field-use result, not a general compatibility or reliability guarantee.

MAIN FUNCTION

Build AR Pipeline

AR Manager creates or updates the working Unreal Composure structure for a new project, connecting the camera, foreground capture, shadow passes, final mix and render-target output.

You still choose the camera, background, foreground actors, helper placement and output routing. The plugin removes repeated technical assembly; it does not pretend those production decisions can be guessed safely.

CURRENT WORKFLOW

From background choice to final output

  1. Choose a background.Use a still image or select a discovered NDI source through AR Manager.
  2. Select foreground CG.Choose the Unreal actors that belong in the composited foreground.
  3. Place AR helpers.Add shadow catchers and, where needed, occlusion helpers for the scene.
  4. Build the pipeline.AR Manager creates or reuses the Composure tree, capture filters, pass mapping and final output.
  5. Route NDI explicitly.Link the final render target to MacNDISender and keep start/stop ownership with the sender.
WORKING CORE

What exists now

  • macOS / Apple Silicon development baseline in Unreal Engine 5.3
  • AR Manager with still-image or live-NDI background selection
  • Foreground, two-pass shadow and final Composure output structure
  • Explicit render-target link to NDI output
  • A workflow already exercised in a real live production
PRODUCT JOURNEY

Still in development

  • Reflection catchers remain experimental
  • Automatic refresh and background binding still have advanced fallback controls
  • PTZ calibration, FreeD/tracking and reusable camera profiles are future direction only
  • Windows support is not implemented or promised
  • Pricing, distribution and public release details are not decided
EARLY DEVELOPMENT

A real core, with honest boundaries

This is not a public download or finished commercial product yet. The goal is a repeatable broadcast/AR setup on Mac, grounded in the workflow already built and used—not a list of speculative features.
