About Broadcast Tools
Short Version
I’m a broadcast specialist working across live production, networking, audio, video, and XR workflows.
Broadcast Tools grew out of real-world need: practical tools built to solve technical problems fast, under pressure, in the kind of environments where things need to work for real.
Most of this was built to solve problems that showed up at exactly the wrong time.
The Longer Version
In practice, my work is a mix of consulting, systems thinking, and hands-on troubleshooting.
One day I might be planning network infrastructure for a studio or production environment. The next, I’m in the middle of a live setup solving a problem that suddenly stopped the whole workflow. That’s the part of the industry I’ve always been drawn to: environments where things have to actually function, not just sound good in a meeting or look good on paper.
I started early, working as a DJ and building sound and lighting setups for clubs and events. That led naturally into media studies, sound engineering, and eventually broader broadcast and production work.
Over time, my work expanded from audio into video, networking, IP-based workflows, and live systems design. I was also an early adopter of NDI and have spent a lot of time working with technologies that sit somewhere between traditional broadcast, IT, and real-time production.
Real production problems are rarely one big failure. They’re usually a stack of small mismatches that only become obvious when the whole system is live.
Today I work across audio, video, lighting, control, and networking, often in the same project. I’ve worked on everything from small live setups to more complex systems where one weak link can affect the whole chain.
In recent years, I’ve also been working with AR/XR, Unreal Engine, tracking systems, and real-time graphics workflows, with the same mindset: make complex things practical, reliable, and cost-effective.
People often come to me when something feels messy, unclear, or “not really possible.” My instinct is usually to ask why, strip the problem down, and find the simplest path that actually works.
I also try to stay in constant learning mode. This field moves too fast for ego to be useful. The moment you think you know everything, you stop paying attention.
About Broadcast Tools
This site started from a simple question: what tools do I wish already existed?
Most of what’s here began as something I needed myself: a calculation, a reference, a planning aid, or a faster way to get from problem to answer.
The idea behind the site is simple: make complex things easier.
Broadcast, streaming, IP video, and XR workflows are full of small technical problems that cost time when the answer is buried in documentation or spread across ten tabs. This site is my attempt to go the other way: practical tools, direct explanations, and useful references built around real workflows.
Some pages are for fast answers. Some are for deeper understanding. The goal is the same: solve the problem faster, with less guesswork.
Feedback
If a tool saves you time, great.
If something is unclear, broken, missing, or could be done better, that’s just as useful.
This site will keep evolving, and real feedback is one of the best ways to improve it. If you have ideas, corrections, or requests for new tools, feel free to get in touch.
